Jonathan Helfgott
Jonathan is a seasoned litigator with extensive experience in the public and private sectors. Jonathan has handled a wide variety of complex commercial litigation, intellectual property, and consumer protection matters in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels throughout the United States.
Jonathan has represented clients in high-stakes litigation on both the plaintiff’s and defendant’s side and has achieved favorable results for clients in each role. In his varied practice, Jonathan has defended and been averse to both Fortune 500 companies and closely-held corporations.
Recent cases include:
- A jury victory on behalf of a closely-held manufacturing company in a case alleging breach of oral contract and breach of fiduciary duty;
- Successful representation of former CEO in claims related to a complex private equity acquisition, defeating multiple summary judgment motions and motions to exclude expert testimony in a complex trade secret case on behalf of a Colorado technology company; and
- Successful representation of the former CEO of a CBD company in a case involving claims of civil theft and breach of a non-compete agreement in a bench trial in Boulder County District Court.
Before co-founding Lahti Helfgott LLC, Jonathan worked at an AmLaw 100 firm in Silicon Valley where he represented publicly-traded technology companies in complex consumer class action cases. From 2014 to 2016, Jonathan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Philip A. Brimmer of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. Jonathan then joined the boutique Boulder, Colorado litigation firm Shoemaker Ghiselli and Schwartz. Most recently, Jonathan worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Section of the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, where he enforced the provisions of the Colorado Consumer Protection Act against both local Colorado businesses and multinational corporations.
Jonathan has been recognized as a Colorado Rising Star by Super Lawyers, an honor given to the top 2.5% of attorneys practicing in Colorado under the age of 40. He is a co-author of the Expert Discovery chapter in the Colorado Bar Association/Continuing Legal Education publication Discovery in Colorado.
Prior to law school, Jonathan received a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship for his research project Baseball’s Globalization: Economics, Culture, and Sport.
